IRE members can download them free from the Resource Center (use the search terms " "2009 IRE Conference (Baltimore, Md.)") or order a CD with the entire collection for $15, plus $5 shipping. Pre-order your audio CD: IRE members can also purchase professional audio recordings of conference panels. IRE members who did not attend the conference can purchase the audio CD for $20 plus $5 shipping. Conference attendees can order one copy of the CD compilation for $5. Building investigative journalism centers and funding your own projects

Find out about ways to build and fund the future of investigative journalism through the development of state and regional centers. Limited seating is available for a special track of Thursday panels that will talk about the challenges and solutions to the creation and operation of such centers. Sessions will include advice on getting started, pitfalls to avoid, how to create successful partnerships, and how to get and use cutting-edge technology. The day’s final session will feature foundation leaders discussing what they consider when evaluating which projects to support. The sessions were organized in conjunction with Brant Houston, Knight Chair of Investigative Reporting at the University of Illinois, and are sponsored by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. Recharge your skills, learn from leading journalists at the 2009 IRE Conference

A stellar lineup of investigative reporters will speak at the IRE conference, June 11-14. You’ll hear from Bob Woodward of The Washington Post, Seymour Hersh, Jill Abramson and Dean Baquet of The New York Times, Brian Ross of ABC News, Armen Keteyian of CBS News, Don Barlett and James Steele of Vanity Fair and David Simon, a veteran Baltimore journalist and television producer. Jon Klein, president of CNN-U.S., will deliver the keynote address at the IRE Awards Luncheon. (See the latest schedule) The conference will deliver what you’ve come to expect from an IRE conference and more. We’ll present dozens of panels offering tips and techniques from reporters, producers, editors and news directors. You’ll not only leave with story ideas but also with roadmaps detailing how to get those stories. You’ll be able to take all of the practical advice you learn and apply it to everything from breaking news stories to enterprise pieces. A series of panels will focus on covering the economic meltdown. And we’re offering an expanded lineup of Web-focused panels to help you present that work to your online audience. Optional CAR Day - Thursday, June 11

The conference will kick off with an optional day on Thursday, June 11. Whether you're new to computer-assisted reporting, or an experienced CAR practitioner, this day will provide you with knowledge you need to be relevant in our ever-changing electronic world. Highlights of this optional day include sessions on Mapping, Web scraping, cutting-edge Internet searching, open source alternatives and more.
